Esta semana hablamos con Mar Pérez, una de las fundadoras de Azul Calabaza, una tienda online de ropa para mujer con un aire informal, moderno y urbano….
Una pequeña empresa familiar española que nace en plena pandemia y a la que hoy conocemos un poco más en profundidad.
Pregunta. ¿Cómo nace Azul Calabaza y quiénes sois?
Respuesta. El mundo de la moda es algo que siempre me ha gustado y aunque no me había dedicado a ello profesionalmente , ya que soy Maestra de Educación Infantil, si que había hecho cursos de Personal Shopper , estaba informada de tendencias, y siempre con curiosidad por este mundo de diseñadores , porque era mi hobbie.
Mi marido y yo teníamos una Escuela Infantil, pero debido al confinamiento tuvimos que dejarla ,ya que al estar tantos meses cerrados , no pudimos hacer frente a los gastos sin tener niños, y por tanto sin ingresos.
La idea de la tienda de ropa ya la teníamos en la cabeza, así que, en vez de derrumbarnos al quedarnos los dos sin trabajo, lo vimos como la oportunidad para poder dar forma a nuestra idea y lanzarla. Así nació Azul Calabaza.
P. Por cierto, ¿de dónde viene el nombre? Me ha resultado gracioso lo del color azul calabaza y creo que tiene algo más detrás.
R. Una de las cosas que más me gusta es pintar, así que durante el confinamiento aproveché y estuve haciéndolo. Tanto, que hasta los botes de los encurtidos los pintaba, y todo lo hacía en los mismos tonos verde agua – turquesa que es mi color favorito. Y en uno de los botes lo que dibujé fue una calabaza.
Cuando definitivamente cerramos la escuela, empezamos a trabajar día y noche en nuestro nuevo proyecto de tienda “online”(debido al momento en que estábamos viviendo). Creamos la página web, empezamos a buscar proveedores, y a visitar distribuidores hasta encontrar la ropa que encajaba con nuestro estilo y nuestra idea. Y fue entonces cuando nos dimos cuenta que nos faltaba lo más importante, un nombre para nueva ilusión.
Así que nos pusimos manos a la obra, reunión familiar con nuestros hijos y lluvia de ideas. Salieron nombres de todo tipo: divertidos, raros, inverosímiles… Y después de un rato cogí uno de los botes que había pintado y dije: ¡Azul Calabaza!. Se hizo el silencio, y después de unos segundos todos coincidieron en que les gustaba, tenía algo que gustaba, y además lo más curioso, es que ya teníamos el diseño del logo. Tuvimos el nombre, el logo, y el lema de nuestra tienda al mismo tiempo. Y todo gracias a un bote de aceitunas.
Así que, como dice nuestro lema: “Pinta tus sueños de Azul Calabaza”.

P. Con un estilo casual e informal, ¿Cómo definisteis las señas de identidad y la filosofía de Azul Calabaza?
R. Teníamos claro que la tienda iba a ir dirigida a mujeres de hoy, una mujer actual e independiente, con estilo propio. Ropa para el día a día, cómoda para ir a trabar pero con un toque especial para salir a compartir momentos con amigos y familia.
Esa es nuestra filosofía: cómoda y bonita.
P. ¿Qué es lo que más os apasiona de vuestro día a día?
R. Todo la verdad. Es que ha sido un cambio total de la escuela infantil a una tienda de ropa online. Pero la ilusión y las ganas son las mismas. Uno de los momentos que mas me gusta es cuando preparamos la nueva temporada, elegir la ropa, colores, tejidos, modelos…Ir de proveedor en proveedor buscando las nuevas tendencias … Pero mi favorito es cuando llega la ropa que hemos seleccionado. Es como una fiesta de cumpleaños abriendo regalos ó una noche de reyes. Me encanta sacar la ropa, probármela y prepararla.
Siempre estoy viendo nuevos modelos, nuevas ideas, haciendo combinaciones, creado looks con nuestras prendas y complementos.
P. ¿Cuáles son los mayores retos a los que os habéis enfrentado a la hora de crear una tienda como Azul Calabaza?
R. Ufff, han sido muchos. Ten en cuenta que los dos estábamos en el mismo negocio y nos quedamos sin él, y con una familia que mantener… Tuvimos que reinventarnos rápidamente, sin tener la seguridad de que esto fuera a funcionar, y sin muchos recursos después de liquidar y cerrar la escuela.
Lo primero que nos costó fue la página web. La hizo mi marido sin tener conocimientos informáticos, pero con mucho esfuerzo y trabajo, aprendiendo sobre la marcha de los propios errores, salió!
Otra de las cosas que nos costó fueron las redes sociales, también tuvimos que aprender a manejarlas y sobre todo darnos a conocer y conseguir que la gente comenzase a seguirnos. Después de este primer año seguimos aprendiendo , formándonos y trabajando para estar al día y poder llevar a Azul Calabaza a todos los rincones y toda la gente.
P. ¿Cómo es el proceso de selección de las prendas y qué tejidos soléis trabajar?
R. Los tejidos van cambiando según las temporadas. Y la selección la hacemos no sólo dependiendo de las tendencias del momento, sino también teniendo en cuenta la línea de Azul Calabaza.
P. Nos gustaría hablar de tendencias, ¿Cuáles serán las tendencias del otoño invierno 2021-2022 desde vuestro punto de vista?
R. En otoño, mi estación favorita, siempre ha habido marrones, rojos y amarillos. Pero en esta ocasión este otoño-invierno viene lleno de colores : azules, rojos, naranjas…y los que más se van a ver son en rosa y el verde.

P. ¿Alguna idea de lo que serán las tendencias imprescindibles durante el próximo año?
R. Seguiremos con la tendencia de moda “comfy”, que se puso muy de moda el año pasado a consecuencia de estar en casa tele-trabajando. Es una tendencia de ropa muy cómoda , versátil y a la vez elegante. Desde conjuntos y monos oversize para trabajar muy cómoda en casa, hasta blazer y chaquetas de punto para combinar con zapatillas o zapato bajo para reuniones informales.
P. ¿Cuáles son vuestros básicos de armario imprescindibles como Azul Calabaza?
R. Básicos de Azul Calabaza son unos vaqueros (este año van a destacar los de campana), un jersey oversize y las blazer con camisetas. Y los vestidos largos con bota alta se están haciendo un hueco importante en Azul Calabaza.
Ropa versátil , fácil de combinar y con muchas opciones de looks distintos.
P. ¿Alguna tendencia a la que no crees que os vayáis a sumar nunca?
R. No hay que cerrar puertas a ninguna tendencia, hay que verla y ser capaces de llevarla a nuestro estilo, cambiando algún detalle. Eso es lo divertido de la moda, que la haces tuya , ajustando lo que hay a lo que a ti te gusta y te sienta bien. Tú defines tu estilo.
P. En vuestra web también contáis con accesorios, ¿cuáles serán las principales tendencias en accesorios a las que pensáis sumaros?
R. De momento tenemos muy pocos complementos, y los que tenemos son básicos: collares que combinan con todo, pulseras de moda, algún bolso y fulares.
P. ¿Qué consejo le daríais a una persona que esté pensando como vosotros en montar una tienda online o cuál os hubiese gustado que alguien os diese antes de embarcar en esta aventura?
R. Que no cese en su empeño de montarla, que no se desilusione y que trabaje, trabaje y trabaje. Los sueños hay que perseguirlos.
Pero no sólo con echarle horas es suficiente, hay que dar siempre un valor añadido, ya sea con las prendas que tienes, con tus apariciones en redes o a la hora de enviar los pedidos, la presentación de las prenda. Tienes que intentar ponerle tu sello, algo que te diferencie del resto.
Por ejemplo, tu olor, nuestros pedidos huelen a Azul Calabaza, y es algo que a las clientes siempre les llama la atención. Es una sorpresa la primera vez que llegan nuestros nuestros pedidos, porque no sólo ves la ropa, la tocas y la pruebas sino que además la hueles.

P. Sabemos que la tienda incluye novedades casi todos los lunes. ¿Cómo planteáis el modelo de trabajo para seguir este ritmo frenético que tanto engancha con éxito dentro de la tienda online?
R. Todos los lunes lanzamos nuevas prendas de temporada, que vamos preparando durante la semana. Buscamos la ropa, tenemos reuniones con distribuidores y fabricantes, visitas, y preparamos las fotos para la web y para Instagram.
Además, de estar siempre atentos a las tendencias, novedades de los proveedores, y con la atención y asesoramiento diario a nuestras clientas , ya sea desde la web a través de los pedidos, resolviendo dudas por Whatsapp o Instagram.
P. ¿Dónde os gustaría ver Azul Calabaza en los próximos años y cuáles son los pasos que estáis preparando para llegar hasta ellos? ¿Alguna novedad que se pueda avanzar?
R. Nos gustaría poder lanzar nuestra propia de línea de ropa, diseñar nuestros propios modelos y ese es nuestro objetivo a largo plazo. De momento acabamos de empezar, y queremos traer la ropa más bonita para nuestras clientas, pero seguimos trabajando en esa línea, para que llegue el día en el que podamos enseñar nuestra Propia Colección en exclusiva para nuestras Azullowers.
Así que esperamos que, más pronto que tarde, tengáis noticias nuestras porque ya lo hayamos conseguido.
